Best Happy Hour NYC

Best Happy Hour NYC

People rave about going to happy hour, that little sliver of time in the late afternoon / early evening when drinks are flowing as freely as the conversation. But what exactly makes it so “happy?” Simple:

  • It’s cheap: Drinks are often discounted, so you get more booze for your buck.
  • It’s casual: There’s no pressure to go clubbing or find a date – just come as you are and meet new people.
  • It’s perfectly timed: Happy hour usually falls right after you get off work. It’s the ideal way to relax!

You can get in on the action, too, by checking out some of the best happy hours that NYC has to offer:

Corkbuzz Wine Studio

Corkbuzz has several different locations throughout NYC: Union Square, Chelsea Market, and Charlotte. Their mission is to make the joy of wine accessible to everyone, both through tastings and classes. Each location is staffed with sommeliers, so you might feel like a connoisseur after just one glass!

Dutch Kills

This bar, located in Long Island City, has a speakeasy style that will transport you right back to the swanky days of the 1920s. Get in fast because their happy hour is super-popular, and even standing room is very limited.

Full Circle

Full Circle is a Brooklyn joint known for its Skee-ball league called the Brewskee-ball. Its quirky charm and array of over 40 canned beers definitely make it worth a visit. Best of all? If you’re hungry after an intense round of Skee-ball, hot dogs are free!

Skinny Dennis

Budweiser is only $2 at the Skinny Dennis happy hour – which is actually seven hours, from noon-7pm! With honky-tonk on the radio and their infamous Uncle Willie’s Frozen Coffee, Skinny Dennis has now become a Williamsburg institution. In 2016, the bar was voted #1 by New York Magazine’s Grub Street.

Caveat

Located on the Lower East Side, Caveat might just win the title of “best happy Hour in New York City” for its nightly Pregame Your Brain event alone. These range from comedy shows to science panels, so there’s something for everyone. Plus, what better way to meet new people than to bond over a shared nerdy passion?

29B Teahouse

For those less alcohol-inclined, 29B Teahouse might be a good fit. Although they have a range of wines and spirits, and have quickly become known for their matcha-infused beer, 29B’s selection of teas is equally impressive.

An Béal Bocht Cafe

It wouldn’t be a happy hour list without a true Irish pub. An Béal Bocht offers live music and poetry readings that have made the Bronx a little more lively.

The Edge Harlem

This bar has a cozy, welcoming vibe that encourages you to socialize. Especially since there’s no WiFi: a sign near the bar says gently, “connect with each other.” Wednesday nights offer live music ranging from world beats to blues.
